Study Tour – Batch 8, Batch 9, Batch 10 and Batch 11 of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program under Tranche 3.

Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) organized a study tour for the students of Batch 8, Batch 9, Batch 10 and Batch 11 of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program under Tranche 3.

Students participated enthusiastically in the industry visits. They actively observed, and earned practical experiences from industry environment. All of the students visit the two leading industries in the leather and footwear sector in Bangladesh – Accenture Footwear & Leather Products Limited and Good Bags & Accessories Limited on 25 February 2023. In this study tour, eighty-six trainees participated, and they also shared their experiences with their faculty members.

Students participated enthusiastically in the industry visits. They actively observed and earned practical experiences from the industry environment. Students of batch 8 and batch 9 visited the Anjuman Trading Corporation Limited, Leather Industrial Area, Savar, Dhaka, on 18 February 2023 (Saturday). Through this tour, trainees gained first-hand knowledge of the tanning process. Thirty-eight trainees participated in this study tour and shared their experiences with their faculty members.

EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT CENTER, SEIP OF EAST WEST UNIVERSITY ARRANGED 5th LECTURE SERIES UNDER TRANCHE 3

Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU) arranged the fifth Lecture Series (LF23-1) for the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management. The program was held at Razia Samad Lecture Gallery, Room # 242, East West University, Dhaka- 1212 on Saturday, 11 February 2023. The main purpose of this series program is to increase industry-academia collaboration, exchange knowledge, share very first-hand experiences, and ensure updated cutting-edge course content for the trainees, who are actively participating in the GDLFM program.

The Keynote speaker of the 5th Lecture Series (LF23-1) was Mr. Aslam Khan, Director (Technical), Royalcert International Registrars, GmbH. He delivered a valuable lecture on ‘Basic Awareness of System Certification in the Leather Sector’’. There were several certification systems (such as; Management System Certification, Social Compliance Certification, and Product Certification) in the leather and footwear sector that he discussed.

A large group of students from batches 8, 9, 10 & 11 and EDC officials attended the program. The participating students had a lively discussion session with the speakers.

Orientation Program of Batch 10 and 11 under Tranche 3

The Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU) arranged an orientation program for the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management students.

The orientation program for Spring 2023 was held on 30 January 2023 at S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery, Room # 126, East West University, Dhaka- 1212. The orientation program

of EDC, SEIP was attended by distinguished guests, Professor Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor, EWU, & Advisor, EDC, as the chief guest, Dr. Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary & Deputy Executive Project Director (DEPD) (Private -1), SEIP, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh as the special guest. Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, EDC, and Professor, Department of Business Administration, EWU, chaired the program.

A significant number of students, teachers and officials were also attended in the program.
