EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT CENTER, SEIP OF EWU ARRANGED A DAY-LONG TRAINING SESSION AT CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR LEATHER SKILL BANGLADESH LIMITED (COEL)

Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged a day-long training session for the students enrolled in the course, LF 804: Pattern Making and Product Designing at Centre of Excellence for Leather Skill Bangladesh Limited (COEL), Kaliakoir, Gazipur on November 26, 2022 (Saturday) for the students of Batch 6 and Batch 7 of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program under Tranche 3.

The purpose of this training session is to demonstrate the practical aspects of the Industry-specific courses of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program and to promote industry-academia collaboration & first-hand industry experience.

There are 33 trainees from Batch 6 and 7 were participated in this session. The trainees were accompanied by course instructor Mr. Md. Golam Shahnewaz, Vice President- Footwear and Products Division, Concord Ventures Group, Mr. Abul Kalam Mohammed Monzur Morshed, Director (Product Development & Innovation), KEF Limited (Footwear & Lifestyle) and Dr. Mohammad Rezwanul Huq, Assistant Director of EDC-SEIP. The trainees thought that this session would help them a lot in their professional life.

Course Evaluation and Curriculum Review (Phase I)

Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged a discussion session on Course Evaluation and Curriculum Review (Phase I) for Graduate Diploma in Leather & Footwear Management (GDLFM) Program under tranche 3 on Monday, 21 November 2022 at 4.30 p.m. at Razia Samad Lecture Gallery, Room # 242 (1st floor), East West University, Dhaka- 1212.

This session was held to review the present program activities including curriculum, delivery methods, faculty members, course management team (CMT), participant’s learning achievements/outcomes and the overall impact and effectiveness of the program in terms of job creation and enhancing skills.

Dr. Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary and DEPD (Private-1), SEIP, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance was present as a special guest, Mr. Md. Golam Shahnewaz, Vice President – Footwear and Products Division, Concord Ventures Group, Ms. Rasheda Khanam, AGM- HR, Picard Bangladesh Limited, Mr.  Md. Kayum Ali Shikder, DGM, Bay Emporium Limited, Mst. Rezbin Begum, Owner, Peoples Leather Industries, Mr. Kamalesh Chowdhury, Senior Manager- Merchandising, Bata Shoe Company Bangladesh Limited were also present during the session as a discussant. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, EDC, Professor, Department of Business Administration, East West University. A significant number of faculties, EDC members and trainees who have completed their graduate diploma were present during the session.

All of the eminent experts provided their valuable opinions and suggestions to upgrading contents, including new courses inclusion.

EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT CENTER, SEIP OF EWU ARRANGED 4th LECTURE SERIES UNDER TRANCHE 3

Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU) arranged the fourth Lecture Series (LF22-3) for the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management. The program was held at S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery, Room # 126, East West University, Dhaka- 1212 on Saturday, 12 November 2022. The main purpose of this series program is to increase the industry-academia collaboration, exchange knowledge, sharing the very first-hand experiences, and ensuring the updated cutting-edge course contents for the trainees, who are actively participated in the GDLFM program.

The Keynote speaker of the 4th Lecture Series (LF22-3) was Mr. Mohammad Mazharul Islam, Senior Director of Manufacturing, Advance Manufacturing Group. He delivered the valuable lecture on ‘Managing the DISRUPTION and Reshaping the Supply chain’. There were several aspects of disruption in the leather and footwear supply chain that he discussed, as well as some suggestions for reshaping these disruptions.

A large group of students from batch 6, 7, 8 & 9 and EDC officials attended the program. The participating students had a lively discussion session with the speakers.

East West University is offering a Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management sponsored by the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh for the fresh graduates and the existing executives working in the leather and footwear sector with a view to address the efficiency and skill gaps prevailing in the leather and footwear sector in Bangladesh.

 

Course Features:

  • No course fee is required
  • Per diems will be provided
  • Duration of the program is 9 months
  • Classes will be held on Friday, Saturday (evening) and Tuesday (evening) each week
  • Internship allowance will be provided to each trainee for 3 months

  • An applicant must have at least a Bachelor Degree in any discipline from a UGC approved university or an institution

Executive Development Center (EDC), Study Tour of Batch 6, Batch 7, Batch 8 and Batch 9

Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) organized a study tour for the students of Batch 6, Batch 7, Batch 8 and Batch 9 of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program under Tranche 3.

Students participated enthusiastically in the industry visits. They actively observed, and earned practical experiences from industry environment. All of the students visit the four leading industries in the leather and footwear sector in Bangladesh – Picard Bangladesh Limited (November 4, 2022) Apex Footwear Limited (November 5, 2022), Blue Ocean Footwear Limited (November 05, 2022) and Leatherex Footwear Industries Limited (November 5, 2022). In this study tour, seventy eight trainees participated, and they also shared their experiences with their faculty members.
