Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) organized a study tour for the students of Batch 8, Batch 9, Batch 10 and Batch 11 of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program under Tranche 3.

Students participated enthusiastically in the industry visits. They actively observed, and earned practical experiences from industry environment. All of the students visit the two leading industries in the leather and footwear sector in Bangladesh – Accenture Footwear & Leather Products Limited and Good Bags & Accessories Limited on 25 February 2023. In this study tour, eighty-six trainees participated, and they also shared their experiences with their faculty members.

Students participated enthusiastically in the industry visits. They actively observed and earned practical experiences from the industry environment. Students of batch 8 and batch 9 visited the Anjuman Trading Corporation Limited, Leather Industrial Area, Savar, Dhaka, on 18 February 2023 (Saturday). Through this tour, trainees gained first-hand knowledge of the tanning process. Thirty-eight trainees participated in this study tour and shared their experiences with their faculty members.

Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged a practical session for the students enrolled in the course, LF809: Testing of Footwear Materials at Intertek Bangladesh, Tejgaon I/A, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Friday, December 23, 2022 for batch 6 and batch 7 under Tranche 3.

EDC arranged the practical session with the collaboration of Intertek Bangladesh.

The purpose of this practical sessions is for gathering knowledge and it would help to increase the interest of the students in testing of footwear materials as well as the practical aspects of quality control.

Ms. Aliza Sultana, Senior Manager, Footwear Carton and Ceramic Lab, Customer Relationship Management, Intertek Bangladesh was present as a resource person of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear management Program in the practical session.

The practical session at Intertek Bangladesh was attended by 33 students from batches 6 and 7.

Students of the batch 6 and batch 7 visits the Bay Tanneries Unit -2 Limited on 17 December 2022 (Saturday). Through this tour, trainees gained first-hand knowledge of the tanning process. In this study tour, twenty-nine trainees participated, and they also shared their experiences with their faculty members.

Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged a discussion session on Course Evaluation and Curriculum Review (Phase I) for Graduate Diploma in Leather & Footwear Management (GDLFM) Program under tranche 3 on Monday, 21 November 2022 at 4.30 p.m. at Razia Samad Lecture Gallery, Room # 242 (1st floor), East West University, Dhaka- 1212.

This session was held to review the present program activities including curriculum, delivery methods, faculty members, course management team (CMT), participant’s learning achievements/outcomes and the overall impact and effectiveness of the program in terms of job creation and enhancing skills.

Dr. Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary and DEPD (Private-1), SEIP, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance was present as a special guest, Mr. Md. Golam Shahnewaz, Vice President – Footwear and Products Division, Concord Ventures Group, Ms. Rasheda Khanam, AGM- HR, Picard Bangladesh Limited, Mr.  Md. Kayum Ali Shikder, DGM, Bay Emporium Limited, Mst. Rezbin Begum, Owner, Peoples Leather Industries, Mr. Kamalesh Chowdhury, Senior Manager- Merchandising, Bata Shoe Company Bangladesh Limited were also present during the session as a discussant. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, EDC, Professor, Department of Business Administration, East West University. A significant number of faculties, EDC members and trainees who have completed their graduate diploma were present during the session.

All of the eminent experts provided their valuable opinions and suggestions to upgrading contents, including new courses inclusion.

Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU) arranged the fourth Lecture Series (LF22-3) for the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management. The program was held at S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery, Room # 126, East West University, Dhaka- 1212 on Saturday, 12 November 2022. The main purpose of this series program is to increase the industry-academia collaboration, exchange knowledge, sharing the very first-hand experiences, and ensuring the updated cutting-edge course contents for the trainees, who are actively participated in the GDLFM program.

The Keynote speaker of the 4^th Lecture Series (LF22-3) was Mr. Mohammad Mazharul Islam, Senior Director of Manufacturing, Advance Manufacturing Group. He delivered the valuable lecture on ‘Managing the DISRUPTION and Reshaping the Supply chain’. There were several aspects of disruption in the leather and footwear supply chain that he discussed, as well as some suggestions for reshaping these disruptions.

A large group of students from batch 6, 7, 8 & 9 and EDC officials attended the program. The participating students had a lively discussion session with the speakers.

The Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU) arranged an orientation program for the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management students. The orientation program for Fall 2022 was held on 12 October 2022. The orientation program of EDC, SEIP was attended by distinguished guests, Professor Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor, EWU, & Advisor, EDC, as the chief guest, Dr. Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary & Deputy Executive Project Director (DEPD) (Private -1), SEIP, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh as the special guest. Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, EDC, and Professor, Department of Business Administration, EWU, chaired the program. A numerical number of students, teachers and officials were also attended in the program.
