EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT CENTER, SEIP OF EWU ARRANGED 2nd LECTURE SERIES UNDER TRANCHE 3
Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU) arranged the third Lecture Series (LF22-2) for the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management. The program was held at S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery, Room # 126, East West University, Dhaka- 1212 on Saturday, 06 August 2022. The main purpose of this series program is to increase the industry-academia collaboration, exchange knowledge, sharing the very first-hand experiences, and ensuring the updated cutting-edge course contents for the trainees, who are actively participated in the GDLFM program.
The Keynote speaker of the 3rd Lecture Series (LF22-2) was Mst. Rezbin Begum, Owner, Peoples Leather Industries. She delivered a valuable lecture on “Entrepreneurship Development”. She highlighted different aspects of the leather and footwear sector for a beginner who want to start new business in this field.
A large group of students from batch 4, 5, 6 & 7 and EDC officials attended the program. The participating students had a lively discussion session with the speakers.
EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT CENTER, SEIP OF EWU ARRANGED A DAY-LONG TRAINING SESSION AT CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR LEATHER SKILL BANGLADESH LIMITED (COEL)
Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged a day-long training session for the students enrolled in the course, LF 804: Pattern Making and Product Designing at Centre of Excellence for Leather Skill Bangladesh Limited (COEL), Kaliakoir, Gazipur on July 30, 2022 (Saturday) for the students of Batch 4 and Batch 5 of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program under Tranche 3.
The purpose of this training session is to demonstrate the practical aspects of the Industry-specific courses of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program and to promote industry-academia collaboration & first-hand industry experience.
There are 36 trainees from Batch 4 and 5 were participated in this session. The trainees were accompanied by course instructor Mr. Md. Golam Shahnewaz, Vice President- Footwear and Products Division, Concord Ventures Group and Mr. Biplob Kumar Nandi, Assistant Director of EDC-SEIP. The trainees thought that this session would help them a lot in their professional life.
EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT CENTER, SEIP OF EWU ARRANGED PRACTICAL SESSIONS IN THE FOOTWEAR TESTING LAB AT INTERTEK BANGLADESH
Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged a practical session for the students enrolled in the course, LF809: Testing of Footwear Materials at Intertek Bangladesh, Tejgaon I/A, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Friday, July 22, 2022 for batch 4 and batch 5 under Tranche 3.
EDC arranged the practical session with the collaboration of Intertek Bangladesh.
The purpose of this practical sessions is for gathering knowledge and it would help to increase the interest of the students in testing of footwear materials as well as the practical aspects of quality control.
Ms. Aliza Sultana, Senior Manager, Footwear Carton and Ceramic Lab, Customer Relationship Management, Intertek Bangladesh was present as a resource person of the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear management Program in the practical session.
The practical session at Intertek Bangladesh was attended by 36 students from batches 4 and 5.
Consultation Workshop for Promoting Executive Development Program in EWU
A stakeholder consultation workshop on the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) for Promoting Executive Development Program held on 18 June 2022 at S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery at East West University. The workshop was organized by the Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) and it was assisted by Barnamala Communication Limited & Viscom Communication Limited.
The chief guest of the program was Mr. Md. Ekhlasur Rahman, Additional Secretary, and Executive Project Director (EPD), Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP), Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh, and the special guest was Mr. Syed Nasim Manzur, President, Leathergoods And Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB). The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, Executive Development Center, East West University.
Dr. Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary and Deputy Executive Project Director (DEPD) (Private-1), Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP), Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh delivered a presentation on the Executive Development Program (EDP) of the SEIP, Ministry of Finance. The Special guest also delivered a speech on the prospects of the GDLFM program and changes in future industry-academia collaborations.
The EDC-SEIP members of EWU, members of the association, stakeholders from the leather & footwear industry, and successful & potential trainees of the GDLFM program were also present in the workshop.
Curriculum Review Regarding 4IR
Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged an open discussion session on Curriculum Review Regarding 4ir, on Wednesday, 15 June 2022 at East West University.
A significant industry expert, faculties and EDC members were present during the session. All of the eminent experts provided on their valuable opinions and suggestions to upgrading contents, including new courses inclusion. Since the future works and industry operations change rapidly due to the technological advancement & automation, the experts focus on this aspect. They also emphasized on the courses that related to the global supply chain management, digital marketing, enterprise resource planning (ERP) for floor management, design and quality assurance.
Day-long Training Session for Batch 1, 2 and 3 at COEL

Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU) arranged a practical session for the students enrolled in the course, LF809: Testing of Footwear Materials at Intertek Bangladesh, Tejgaon I/A, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Friday, March 11, 2022 for batch 1 and Friday, March 18, 2022 for batch 2 & batch 3 under Tranche 3.

EDC-SEIP, EWU arranged 2nd Lecture Series under Tranche – 3
Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU) arranged the second Lecture Series (LF22-1) for the Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management. The program was held online on 18 February 2022 through Zoom. The primary purpose of this series program is to increase the industry-academia collaboration, exchange knowledge, share first-hand experiences, and ensure updated, cutting-edge course content for the trainees who are actively participating in the GDLFM program.
The 2nd Lecture Series (LF22-1) Keynote speaker was Mr. Engr SAM Yousuf PEng, Chief Executive Officer, Z Shoes and Accessories Limited. He delivered a valuable lecture on “Practical Solutions to Quality-Related Problems in the organization.” Many students, faculty, and industry experts attended the program. The participating students had a lively discussion session with the speakers. They shared their recent industry experiences and highlighted several ways to maintain standard quality management.
EDC-SEIP, EWU Participated in the Webinar organized by Asian Development Bank (ADB)
Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized an internal webinar to enhance the industry-academia collaboration to accelerate the organizational productivity, pragmatism of course curriculum, and the efficacy of overall training outcome.
The webinar was held on February 9, 2022, titled “Establishing University-Industry Linkages for Managerial Workforce Development: Sharing Experiences from Bangladesh Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP).” The seasoned industry experts, practitioners, and ADB officials were present. Professor Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, Executive Development Center (EDC), East West University (EWU), presented the overall progress and achievements of the SEIP program and shared the experiences and knowledge with distinguished resource persons. He also provided deep insights into the 9-month Graduate Diploma in Leather and Footwear Management (GDLFM) program and identified various challenges to implement the target of the Graduate Diploma program. He also mentioned possible paths to mitigate the obstacle for implementing industry-oriented and practical skill and training programs in the Leather and Footwear sector in developing countries, like Bangladesh.
